In building models, drawings can be pulled directly from the models allowing direct interaction. Schedules are also updated simultaneously. Modelled elements will also contain important data including; properties, who it was designed by, LOD, manufacturer etc.

BIM allows for the management of digital information throughout the whole life cycle of a structure, from initial design all the way through to construction, maintaining and finally de-commissioning. BIM is all about designing in 3D models rich with information to allow for management of this data and collaboration between all the disciplines.
